Is Twitter useful or waste of time? Share your thought.

8 Aug

Most people already familiar with Twitter. As i am a twitter’s user i personally love twitter because it allows me to know what my friends are doing and i could share what i am doing in every moment of my life. e.g If Isend a message telling about im gong to set up a party next week and inviting all my friends, the same day i will receive more than 20 replied on the same topic. It helps me to identify who is coming over to my house… It is also pretty useful for selling stuffs to people, i always use it  as an alternative instead of displaying them on ebay… Real time and much faster having customer…

So i dont think Twitter is waste of time because we can get benefits out of it… I have watched the tv show of David letterman saying Twitter is just waste of time. lets watch it:

We can talk in Twitter about Business, talking to friends about projects, Selling or buying stuff and we can get feedback easily about our product or Twitter helps us to identify what will happen in the future.. e.g twitter has personalised topic about earthquake so that people will get informed about it… Click here to join twitter earthquake

Hi Sam I’m Jeffrey, I think the greatest parts of Twitter are the variety and wideness of the topics and user groups, as well as the key concepts of it (140 words limit plus the idea of “following”).

I started to use Twitter just about 5 months ago, so basically, from what I have learnt and experienced so far, I would say that Twitter is a very useful tool that everyone should try sometime, it can be a waste of time for some users though, but it totally depends on the way you use Twitter, for example, don’t just answer the Twitter question – “what are you doing?”, instead, go and explore the “real value” within Twitter..some of my thoughts.

Hi Jeffrey, thank you for your respond. Good idea. Yeah for someone who are not used to web 2.0 application which normally involve social networking such as msn messenger, Facebook, friendster, etc would probably think twitter will be a waste of time too. I have friends with this attitude.. They have no idea how to use it, how it works and what benefits we can get. They end up judging Twitter is just wasting people time…When i heard about Twitter i was judging bad things about it too.. What I said couple months ago before i started using it “Why do we need twitter, the functionality is similar to Facebook.. We can leave message just through facebook too..Why do we need another one..”lol.. But since all my friends use twitter, finally i registered in and ‘follow’ them up… It becomes fun day by day, i learn lots of things, gained lots of infos about my friends and families from Brunei Darussalam… Yeah using Twitter makes me feel close to everyone and my mom can keep on track what am i doing everyday… hehe…

Well done for getting some good replies to this post. I agree with Jeffrey… i.e. don’t just answer what you are doing… but give something of value to the listeners… something current and in real time (the scoop on some new emerging news etc..)

Of course, another aspect is tracking what is being said about your brand in the twitter stream…

Twitter is what you want it to be, I reckon. My main interest in it is keeping up with friends, posting and reading blog articles, and keeping up with news I would otherwise not hear.

An another note – I’ve always been of the impression that blog posts need to be a certain length to get anything across. Apparently not. I’ll try some shorter posts!

Yes.. I reckon Twitter helps me alot too… It is a platform for me to post my expression when i was stress, talk to friends, getting new information and the most important point of having Twitter for me is getting close/interact with my family… Thanx for commenting mark… good views…

Interesting article on twitter. I am not a good twitter user though.
I did a post to get some feedback from the users and still no improvement on that post. At the mean time I found your blog and most of the posts relate to my Twitter and I thought to link these to my blog…..

Hi Nadishasige4ra, thanx for responding to this blog post and thanx for linking these to your blog. I suggest you become more active in using twitter to get good response fromother users. Just right anything u do and make it as a daily routine. The more active you’re the more you will be recognised… The first time i use Twitter, i didnt get any response at all. But i just keep on sending anything on twitter especially related to consulting Web 2.0 for business to create my personal brand and to be recognised… Now as i didnt realised slowly, many CEO, employees and personnel now following me on Twitter… Everyday i checked my email, there will be someone following me on Twitter… So try it… Then u will see the difference… Any enqueries about anything i am keen to help you…
